Asset Manager CV, Template & Examples

CV Building Tips for Asset Managers

Asset managers have quite a few options for building their CVs. They can focus on quantifiable achievements while also spending a lot of time talking about personal skill sets. For example, an asset manager can state that they were responsible for saving EUR 5 million. They did this by changing existing vendor contracts for properties they manage. Another example is an asset manager who reduced the price of an asset the company acquired to 10% below market value.

Bullet points on a CV with a numerical value can immediately catch the recruiter’s attention. They allow the candidate to direct the conversation towards a discussion of these achievements. The candidate would have much to say about these specific projects. Thus, sprinkling such points across one’s CV to direct the conversation is a good idea.

Speaking about accomplishments that can be quantified needs to be improved. Asset managers must outline their experience and education to manage assigned assets.

Have Role-Specific CVs

For most asset managers, the best idea might be to focus on a specific area of specialisation in which they have the most experience. For instance, a digital asset manager’s work is very different from the job that an IT asset manager must complete. Thus, a CV focusing on a specific niche has a higher chance of catching the recruiter’s eye.

If a candidate has experience in many areas, they should feel free to make various versions of their CV, each focusing on a specific niche. They can then apply to different roles with a different CV version. This CV version targets and highlights their experience performing that role.

While this is the preferred strategy, having a generic CV might be helpful.

Depending on the details of the job posting, this could be the case. Companies could require generalist asset managers. These managers would be responsible for managing a variety of asset classes.

It is thus a good idea to go through the job description and understand the specifics of the role before deciding which version of your CV to apply with.

Experience vs Academic Qualifications

There are specific asset management roles that require a lot of on-the-ground experience. For such positions, mentioning your work experience would be ideal. Yet, in asset management, some functions focus on modelling and financial analysis. Mentioning certification or academic courses related to the job could yield better results for these positions.
