We are currently recruiting an experienced finance director to join our client, a leading pharmaceutical company, in developing the finance function for France. The position will be based in France, offering the option of a hybrid or home-based work arrangement. We seek candidates with recent experience in the French pharmaceuticals or life sciences sector, a strong background in FP&A, and a solid foundation in accounting and controllership. This role presents a significant opportunity for an ambitious finance professional driven to contribute to establishing a regional finance function while providing financial and strategic guidance to support the company’s growth and vision.
Financial Director Job Responsibilities:
- Develop the finance, FP&A, and administrative framework to support the business.
- Act as a finance business partner for the local executive and key contact for the region’s finance.
- Lead and manage the strategic planning process, including financial forecasts and budgets.
- Work with operations to develop and manage P&Ls and investigate variances.
- Prepare analysis and presentations for regional and corporate management.
- Review the plan to ensure management buy-in; provide guidelines, assumptions, and targets.
- Assist European Accounting in establishing US GAAP and statutory and local reporting. Third-party payroll and accounting service providers.
- Manage all audit reviews, including internal audits, US GAAP, local GAAP, and SOX.
- Assist with the procure-to-pay cycle and integration of 3PLs, wholesalers and other stakeholders within the supply chain.
- Participate in the development of accounting policies and operational strategies.
- Develop solutions, solve problems to improve business effectiveness, system efficiencies, and business practices, and undertake projects.
Profile:
- Mandatory recent experience in pharmaceuticals or life sciences within France.
- 10 to 20 years’ relevant experience in finance.
- Proven financial planning, accounting, and reporting experience.
- Able to establish and build a finance function.
- Experience with third-party logistics, commercial finance, costing and pricing.
- Excellent technical, analytical, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
- Autonomous, persistent and results-orientated.
- Degree in finance or a related subject with expertise in Excel and SAP.
- Fluent in French; eligible to work in France.
